Planning phase
Note: Before setting up your own storage, start by reviewing the article How does using my own Azure storage account work?
Create a custom storage account
It is strongly recommended that you create an Azure storage account used exclusively by ShareGate.
Creating an Azure storage account for ShareGate ensures that other users within your organization do not delete or alter your archived items. If they do, there is a possibility they render it unusable.
Storage compatibility
To be compatible with ShareGate, your storage account needs to be the type General-purpose V1 or General-purpose V2.
We also suggest that you set the Access tier to Cool by default, to lower your costs.
If you set your storage account to LRS (for data replication), the Premium performance tier is not supported by ShareGate. Select the Standard performance tier instead.
For the storage Firewalls and virtual networks settings, it is best practice to allow access from All networks. Using Selected networks can impede ShareGate's validation process. Involve your networking team if your business needs require a Selected network.
